How To do this

Shooting for Maskot Invite should be fun and inspiring. Here is a helping hand and answers to questions you might have setting up your shoot.

1. Find yourself a brief.
In the brief you will find all information you need. Everything from what models to cast, type of location you would need to props and do´s and don´ts.

2. Casting models
Just ask your friends, family, coworker or local hair stylist. Authenticity is key here, faces that people can relate to. Casting people on social media such as Instagram can also be successful.

We are actively looking for representation of a broad group of people. All ethnicities, gender identities, different abilities and body types are welcome.

We encourage you to pay the models for their time. And that they can get some great photos from the shoot for private use. Remember, all models require a release.

3. Communication with models
Please make sure to provide information about the photo shoot in advance. Models can look forward to a fun few hours. However, it is important that all people involved are fully aware of the concept, the terms of use and that the content will be licensed for commercial use. And inform about the necessary model releases.

Example, if you would like to post an ad:
I am looking for XXX (4 senior women) for photo shoot, Weekend Getaway (XXX shoot theme). Warm and friendly images capturing togetherness and leisure activities outdoors.

The content will be licensed by Maskot and it´s distributors for editorial and commercial use such as, advertising, communication, marketing, information and other media (ads, brochures, pr and other corporate marketing).
Customers are image buying design professionals with end users like big and small corporations, incorporations and publishing houses. All recognizable people need to sign a model release.”

Before shoot day please send a confirmation email (or a callsheet) with all necessary details. Including information like contact information, location address and other useful information before coming to set.

4. Location scouting
Find a location that is relevant to the subject matter. The perfect location can really take the shoot to the next level. So finding the right spot to match the topic is key. Ask your friends, family, coworkers or the restaurant around the corner.
We encourage you to pay the location owner for their time. And they can get some great photos from the shoot for private use.
Remember, all private property requires a property release.

5. Communication with location owners.
It is important that you get permission to shoot at your location and that location owners are well informed about the terms of use and that the content can be licensed for commercial use. Before arriving at the location please confirm in written form about the details and the necessary releases. All private property requires a property release.

Example text:
”We are setting up a photo shoot on the subject Small Business Owners. Warm and friendly images capturing entrepreneurship and consumer service. To that we would need a matching location and would like to ask if it would be possible to shoot that in your space.
