Releases
You will need a model and/or property release form if your images or clips have recognizable people or property. Including shooting friends and family. Releases are legal documents that will allow Maskot to license the content for commercial use.
Model Release
You need to collect a model release for any recognizable people in the image or the clip. We require that you use the app Easy Release and that you replace the legal default text with Maskot´s standard model release text that you can download here.

Property release
You need to collect a property release for any private property recognizable in the image or the clip. Basically every visible copyright and trademark protected item. A property can for example be a shooting location, artwork, a pet, logos or a design object. We require that you use the app Easy Release and that you replace the legal default text with Maskot´s standard property release text that you can download here.

Copyright conscious
Please read more about situations when a model or a property release is required when shooting. Remember, every private property or trademarked or copyright protected item visible will require a release. Use this guide below to learn more.
People
Images with unreleased people will only be accepted if they are unidentifiable. All other people will need a release.
For us unidentifiable means people that are either blurred, have their faces covered by other objects, or shot from behind while not being the main object of the image or clip.
Design objects
Be careful with design objects. Check to make sure that there are no famous design objects in your shot. This could be patterns, sculptures, furniture, products etc etc. Images or clips with clear unreleased design objects will not be selected.
Furniture
Designer furniture may be subject to trademark and/or copyright protection in some jurisdictions.
The designs at greatest risk, and where you should be extra careful, are those created by Le Corbusier, even when only a small part of it is visible.
Logos and Trademarks
Option Four. All brands, logos and trademarks in submitted images are unacceptable and will not be accepted. Avoid them or have them removed before submitting final high res images or clips.
Property
All private homes and business, interior and exterior, require property releases if they are in any way recognizable.
Skylines, including both urban and rural settings, are acceptable without a release. Exceptions may include views where a single protected property is the primary focus and easily isolated, including famous landmarks and modern architecture.
Cars, motorcycles, scooters
We will not select images that shows a car or a detail of a car where a part of the car design is visible. To avoid this shoot in a way where design is not clearly visible or include at least three different brands of vehicle in the same image or clip.
Body shapes, do not retouch
To comply with current retouching laws (France, October 1, 2017), we will not select images or clips showing models if their body shapes have been retouched to make them look thinner or larger than they are in reality. Change of hair color, nose shape, retouching of skin, or blemishes is still acceptable.
Copyright protected works
Please be reminded that copyrighted works such as artwork, graffiti, tattoos, book covers, paintings, photography and illustration also will require a property release signed by the copyright holder.
